It just seems to be denied by Microsoft. While I know that the RAM drive precludes hibernate, I am working now on at least going into standby to keep down power consumption. I resolved the bug from Power Management->Power Scheme. That way, when you power the computer back up by pressing the power button, you will be returned more quickly to the desktop exactly as you left it.

On the Power Schemes tab, I saw not two but six default schemes available. There's a nice tool (free) called nCleaner that does several things.
