What is it? I was always confused on what it was, and this is a great post filled with examples. Netscape 6.1 supports z-index for select, but AFAIK other browsers do not support it yet. Ironically, however, when z-index is fully understood, it is a very easy property to use, and offers an effective method for overcoming many layout challenges.
